(WNG) organizes a forum on the phenomenon of unemployment

Within the framework of Women National Group (WNG) interest in women’s issues, and seeking to protect and develop their capabilities, the( WNG) organized the third periodic forum on the Zoom platform, last Saturday.
A lecture entitled “The Phenomenon of Unemployment: Its Concept, Causes and Effects, Especially on Women” was presented at the forum, presented by Dr. Um Salama Mohamed Ismail, and moderated by Dr. Omaima Abdel Wahab.
Dr. Um Salama presented the definition of unemployment, its causes, and its impact on society, where she mentioned the negative effects of unemployment on the individual and society, economically, socially, psychologically, and demographic causes (high population growth) and its effects on society.
The forum pointed out to unemployment in developing countries, its damages, and the negative effects on women in particular, analyzed them objectively and practically from the social, economic, cultural, and psychological aspects. Dr. Um Salama stated that unemployment is a waste of productive capacity and competencies, which negatively affects development and leads to the disintegration of society.
On the same level, the lecture linked unemployment, the spread of poverty, wars, and the rise of crime in society, showing its effects on the economy and contributing to its deterioration.
In conclusion, the forum presented solutions and recommendations to address the problem of population growth rates, which provide greater opportunities for economic growth.
This includes investing in human capital through education, rehabilitation, and training, improving the skills of the workforce, and promoting comprehensive economic development. Creating job markets means providing enough job opportunities for all.
The forum also made recommendations as follows:
Legalizing women’s simple professions. Directing and qualifying human resources. Focus on agricultural, animal and technical vocational education. Keeping pace with the labor market and its needs, in education, training, and rehabilitation. Determine the type of unemployment and how to solve the problem. Develop an economic development plan, which should be balanced in all states.
