Executive Secretary of IGAD, arrives in Juba

IGAD executive secretary, Dr.Workneh Gebeyehu
arrived in the capital of South Sudan, Juba, on a mission that has focused on the implementation of the renovated conflict resolution agreement in South Sudan (R-ARCSS), and an emphasis on the urgent need to implement it in full and in the appropriate time.
At his meeting with Ambassador Mundi Simaya Kumpa, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and additional consultations with the ministers concerned with the peace process, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, highlighted the role of the signatories and all stakeholders in jointly promoting sustainable peace.
He also affirmed the organization’s firm commitment to support South Sudan at this important stage.

Arrived in Juba, South Sudan for a two-day mission focused on progress implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS), and underscoring the critical need for its timely and full execution. In my initial meeting with H.E. Amb. Monday Semaya Kumba, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and additional consultation with Ministers involved in the peace process, I highlighted the essential role of the signatory parties and all stakeholders in jointly advancing sustainable peace. I reaffirmed IGAD’s unwavering commitment to supporting South Sudan throughout this important journey.
