Ministry of Finance Submits Third Voluntary National Report on SDGs to Prime Minister

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning adhered to the previously agreed-upon timeline for submitting the Third Voluntary National Report on the Sustainable Development Goals to the relevant authorities on time. It preempted this by submitting the report to Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris.

Dr. Mohammed Bashar, Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry, stated in a press statement at the Ministry’s headquarters today that the report contained accurate information and data for each sector, focusing on the goals that represent Sudan’s current priorities, namely (food security, health, education, water, and electricity). The sectoral reports also reflected reconstruction priorities, how to implement them, and the mobilization of internal and external resources, including grants and loans, for their implementation.

It is worth noting that voluntary reports worldwide should reflect countries’ positions in implementing all the Sustainable Development Goals (2015-2030). While the United Nations has focused on five goals each year, this year’s goals focus on: good health and well-being (Goal 3), gender equality (Goal 5), decent work and economic growth (Goal 8), life below water (Goal 14), and partnerships for the goals (Goal 17).
