A training workshop for state support teams (SST) was launched this morning in Kassala, organized by the Department of Integrated Vector Control at the Federal Health Ministry in cooperation with UNICEF, the Global Support Fund, and the Federal Health Promotion Department, within the framework of the second national campaign for universal coverage of saturated nets by 2025.

The Acting Director of the General Administration of Basic Health Care, Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Abdullah, said in the opening session of the workshop that malaria still constitutes a health burden in Sudan, representing 50% of infections in the Eastern Mediterranean region. This situation requires harmony, partnership, and efforts in light of the current circumstances that have contributed to the exacerbation of the problem. He pointed to multiple strategies for control, including saturated mosquito nets and spraying campaigns, adding that “malaria and its control are not related to health alone, but extend to a number of ministries.”
