IGAD partakes in the 16th AfCFTA Council of Ministers meeting

Dr. Mohyeldeen Eltohami Taha Hamed,
Director Economic Cooperation and Regional Integration( IGAD) participated in
in the 16th AfCFTA Council of Ministers representing Dr Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of IGAD.
He posted the following on the occasion:
“I am honoured, on behalf of H.E. Dr Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of IGAD, to participate in the 16th AfCFTA Council of Ministers responsible for trade, organized by the AfCFTA Secretariat on 15 April in Kinshasa, DRC. IGAD reaffirms its commitment to advancing the implementation of the AfCFTA, with a particular focus on digital trade, the Simplified Trade Regime (STR), and transit facilitation.
The meeting also provided important reflections on the United States’ reciprocal tariffs and their implications for African countries and the AfCFTA, underlining the need for strengthened continental solidarity and strategic engagement in global trade dynamics.”
