World Bank supports hospitals in Sudan with $20 million in 10 states

Member of the Sovereignty Council, Salah al-Din Adam Tor Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, and Director of the World Health Organization Sudan Office, Shibl Sahbani, inaugurated the Health Assistance and Emergency Response Project in Sudan in ten states as a first phase.
The project targeting 8 million Sudanese citizens in 10 states (Northern, Kassala, River Nile, Red Sea, Khartoum, Blue Nile, Sennar, North Kordofan, South Darfur, West Darfur) with the support of the World Bank with the amount of $ 20 million (noting that the total value of the project is $ 80 million for health system reform, including $ 20 million for hospitals through the World Health Organization and 62 million for primary care through UNICEF).
Salah al-Din Adam Tor, a member of the Sovereignty Council, affirmed the Sovereignty Council’s support for all programs and activities related to citizen health, praising the performance of the Federal Ministry of Health. He thanked partners from the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the World Bank, calling for attention to the project.
The Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, explained that the project is one of the stations to restore the health system in Sudan, revealing the need for 6,000 health institutions in Sudan for support, pointing to the great efforts made to implement the project, including multiple interventions of medical devices and equipment and administrative systems, describing the project as large and promising. The Minister pointed to the importance of the overall vision of hospital projects to make the most of the available resources, calling for ensuring the continuity of interventions such as training medical staff and administrative systems and creating a work environment in hospitals
The Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Sudan Office, Shibl Sahbani, stressed the organization’s continued support to the health sector, thanking the partners for the success of the project, despite the challenges facing the health sector in Sudan.
