Agar reviews the health situation in the country
Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council, Commander Malik Agar Ayre, reviewed the overall health situation in the country and the performance of the Federal Ministry of Health during the past period, especially in the pharmaceutical supply sector, hospital operation, emergency medical care programs, and efforts to combat epidemics.
His Excellency was reassured during his meeting in his office in Port Sudan today with the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, on the progress of work in the ministry and the implementation of the proposed programs and plans, appreciating the role of health and medical cadres and their efforts in enhancing health and humanitarian services.
The meeting stressed the importance of coordinating medical and health services at the federal and state levels and activating the role of the Health Coordination Council, which includes the police, the army, higher education, partners in the field of health and health insurance, and United Nations agencies, with the aim of coordinating services at the national and state levels, considering that health is a national issue and coordination must be tightened at all levels.
For his part, the Federal Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham, explained in a press statement that he briefed the Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council on the overall conditions and programs of the Ministry of Health and the stability of the situation, and the efforts to implement the proposed programs in the five axes that were previously identified, noting that the health cadres were honored by the Arab Ministers of Health in appreciation and recognition of their role in the health and medical fields.
His Excellency expressed his thanks to the Sovereignty Council and the Ministry of Finance and their keenness to support and enhance the stability of health services and improve them during the past year, especially the opening of new hospitals and departments and the inauguration and distribution of medical devices, ambulances and diagnostic equipment, adding that last year witnessed a significant improvement in containing some epidemics.
Dr. Haitham stated that the bilateral relations between the Ministry of Health and the United Nations agencies and international organizations are witnessing remarkable stability in addition to the continuation of the projects that have been agreed upon, stressing the ministry’s endeavor to implement the proposed plans and programs, set priorities, enter the liberated areas and open new medical and health outlets for the return of the population.
His Excellency stressed the Ministry’s keenness to implement the future plan to develop the health sector and establish many policies that enhance the improvement and quality of medical services.
