IGAD reaffirms commitment to the MoU with UNICEF on children’s issues

IGAD renewed its commitment to UNICEF on children’s issues, especially education and health care, as well as protection from violence.
IGAD Executive Secretary Workneh Gebeyehu affirmed the organization’s commitment to the rehabilitation and reintegration of children when he received today the UNICEF representative in Djibouti.
In this regard Dr. Gebeyehu posted the following on x platform:
“Protecting and safeguarding children’s rights, particularly the rehabilitation and integration of street children, is a key focus of our work at IGAD. In my meeting today with Ms. @BeateDastel, the UNICEF Country Representative for Djibouti, we discussed the challenges children face, including issues related to education, healthcare, and protection from violence and exploitation. We commit to strengthening synergy within the framework of the UNICEF-IGAD partnership and supporting IGAD Member States, as outlined in the IGAD-UNICEF MoU signed in 2021.”
