Retaliative Behaviour!

By: Alaa Babiker

Humans’ nature has different characteristics. In philosophy: “it means the set of all things which are natural, or subject to the normal working of the laws of nature. It also means the essential properties and causes of individual things – Wikipedia”.

Since antient times, humans have been acting the same way. Reflecting the two sides of their nature. The good and the evil versions. The good people nowadays and in many countries are being described as naïve or stupid, just for acting according to some basic morals and ethics that everyone should be following in this life, but of course not everyone is good. The second type of human nature, the evil, keeps adopting a retaliative behaviour which is one of the main characteristics which form the evil spirit. These people can not be changed easily, specially when they are fed with hatred and grudges at childhood.

One example I would like to consider here is the mercenaries who are fighting in the recent war of Khartoum. Considering the psychological analysis of the personalities of these “soldiers” – at least they consider themselves as such – they represent very complicated nature as many of them were raised to be mercenaries, they were programmed to sabotage, steal, rape, and kill, this is literally their life since very young age.
The website Britannica at one of its articles about the mercenary as soldiers in the past mentioned at one of its paragraphs: “Following the Hundred Years’ War (1337–1453), Europe was overrun with thousands of men who had been trained for nothing but fighting. During the 15th century “free companies” of Swiss, Italian, and German soldiers sold their services to various princes and dukes. These hired soldiers, often greedy, brutal, and undisciplined, were capable of deserting on the eve of battle, betraying their patrons, and plundering civilians. Much of their mutinous behaviour was the result of their employer’s unwillingness or inability to pay for their services” Britannica Website.
The above description was of 700 years ago and it continues to analyse until the 1900s, which is of 100 years ago. But isn’t it strange that it continues to happen until today?! Between people that are of the same nationality?! It is not strange at all! It is simply the human nature strengthened by hatred, massive power in wrong hands, mis-programmed individuals, poverty, poor administration, and eager to control over regardless of the consequences. This combination of circumstances results in retaliative behaviour at larger scale which is continuing to happen inside war areas in Sudan.

The government of Sudan must make massive contributions to control the behaviours of these mercenaries who are not part of the Sudanese Armed Forces. But this is to happen only when and after this war stops. So, lets pray to Allah to grant wisdom and positive thinking upon our leaders to end this war, and give our Sudanese real soldiers the strengths to make Sudan a united country once again.
