IGAD Executive Secretary meets President of the Federal Republic of Somalia

During his visit to Somalia, the Executive Secretary of IGAD, H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu met with the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. Their discussions focused on regional peace and security, economic cooperation, and IGAD’s ongoing initiatives in Somalia.
President Hassan Sheikh reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to strengthening ties with IGAD for the development of the region.

Our discussions focused on critical issues related to regional peace and stability, where I reaffirmed IGAD’s unwavering commitment to advancing these efforts. We also explored the establishment of a Regional Blue Economy Centre of Excellence, which will be hosted in Somalia. I look forward to further strengthening IGAD-Somalia relations as we work together to drive progress for the benefit of our region and the continent.”
