Director General of Sudan Railways returns to Atbara after a series of meetings in Port Sudan

Director General of the Sudan Railways Corporation, Consultant/Engineer Musa Al-Qawm Al-Jahdi, left to the administrative capital, Port Sudan, in an official trip wherevthe progress of implementing a package of projects related to reforming and developing the railway sector was discussed, besides other important meetings, including meetings with the Minister of Transport, Engineer Abu Bakr Abu Al-Qasim, and the Russian economic delegation that recently visited Port Sudan, in addition to discussing the issues and concerns of railway workers.

Al-Jahdi affirmed that the meeting held with the Russian delegation in the presence of the Minister of Transport discussed the process of financing and implementing projects to rehabilitate unqualified railway lines, and linkage projects with neighboring countries (Ethiopia and Egypt).

He added that his visit, which began on September 21 and concluded on Thursday, September 26, included a field visit to the repair of railway sections between Atbara and Port Sudan, noting that there are four groups working simultaneously at different distances to shorten the repair time.

Al-Jahdi confirmed, in a press statement upon his return to Atbara, that one of the most important agendas of the visit was discussing the problems of workers in the eastern region with the region director, urging workers to increase productivity, preparing for serious work after opening the line for trains, identifying the social concerns and problems of railway workers and addressing them, along with discussing some arrangements for workers in the Ministry of Labor.

The Director General of the Sudan Railways Corporation said that the meetings discussed supporting the costs of repairing lines and platforms at the Ministries of Transport and Finance, and reviewing the arrangements for repairing the Khor Moj railway bridge in Port Sudan.
