Ministers of economic sector discuss cooperation with WFP

The Ministers of the economic sector discussed today in the Council of Ministers, headed by the Acting Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Eng. Dhawalbeet Abdul Rahman Mansour, with the World Food Program delegation, opportunities for investment cooperation between Sudan and the WFP.

The Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources said in a press statement that the meeting discussed the investment opportunities and the Sudan’s capabilities in all fields, especially investment opportunities in the fields of agriculture, livestock and the industrial sector, stressing Sudan’s readiness to cooperate with the WFP and work together to provide food security locally and regionally.

He pointed out that the delegation will start tomorrow a visit to Gazira Scheme, to inspect the scheme and discuss opportunities for its development that increase its production and productivity.

The head of the WFP delegation, Mr. Kip Tom, stressed the important role that Sudan can play in providing food security at the local and regional levels with it is rich and huge natural resources, asserting readiness of the WFP to cooperate with Sudan in all economic fields.
