Al-Burhan, Salva Kiir hold talks in Juba

The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, and President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit, held a session of talks in Juba today, in the presence of the Advisor of South Sudan President for Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak, South Sudan Foreign Minister, Miek Aye Deng, and the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq.

The talks dealt with the deep-rooted and developed relations between the two countries and aspects of joint cooperation in all fields and ways to promote and develop it to serve the common interests of the peoples of the two countries.

The TSC President praised the great role being played by the Republic of South Sudan to achieve security and stability in Sudan, especially its effective role in signing the Juba Agreement for peace in Sudan.

Al-Burhan stressed the government’s keenness to implement the Juba Agreement for Peace in Sudan and work to overcome obstacles and challenges facing the implementation of the agreement.

During the meeting, Al-Burhan gave a briefing on developments in the country, reaffirming exit of the military establishment from the political process in preparation for the formation of broad-based civil government to lead the country during the remainder of the transitional period.

Meanwhile, the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, reiterated his country’s keenness to exert all efforts so that Sudan enjoys security and stability, praising the great role of Sudan in achieving peace in South Sudan.
