More Than 5 Million Children Vaccinated Against Polio in Three Days
Khartoum –
The Federal Operations Room for the Polio Outbreak Response Campaign has announced that more than five million children (5,014,021) have been vaccinated during the first three days of the campaign, representing 87 per cent coverage of the overall target of 5,771,389 children.
The campaign was launched last Monday.
At its daily meeting, the Operations Room reviewed reports from liaison officers on the plans and observations of federal supervisors, including their assessments of vaccination teams and household visits, as well as feedback from state-level operations rooms.
The meeting also reviewed geographical coverage, health promotion activities across various areas, vaccine supplies and vaccination coverage figures.
The Operations Room confirmed that the campaign would conclude today, Thursday, in 11 states, while vaccination activities would continue in the Blue Nile Region to complete the four-day campaign.
It urged families to ensure that children within the targeted age groups receive their polio vaccinations. It also directed relevant teams to identify any areas that may have been missed and take the necessary measures to ensure they are covered.
