From Moscow… Sisi Announces a Decisive Stance on Sudan’s Unity and National Institutions

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi affirmed his country’s categorical rejection of any attempts to undermine Sudan’s unity or infringe upon its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions. He called for unified efforts to end the war and support a political process leading to a purely Sudanese-led dialogue.
In Egypt’s address to the plenary session of the Third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, Sisi stated that Africa’s security and stability are essential for realizing the aspirations of the continent’s people. He expressed Egypt’s deep concern regarding the escalating tensions in the Horn of Africa.
He reiterated his country’s rejection of any threats targeting the sovereignty of the region’s countries or interference in their internal affairs, as well as any actions that exploit the fragility of the regional situation to militarize the Red Sea and impose a military presence of non-littoral states on its coasts.
Regarding Russian-African relations, the Egyptian President stated that the summit represents a shift from assessing past achievements to formulating a more ambitious and effective executive vision for the future of the partnership. This vision is based on respecting African priorities, realizing mutual interests, and translating political understandings into tangible projects.
He noted that Egypt’s vision for development in Africa rests on five pillars: establishing strategic corridors and logistics zones; increasing intra-African trade; enhancing cooperation in energy and electricity interconnection; achieving water and food security and supporting agricultural development; and strengthening cooperation in communications, information technology, and artificial intelligence.
President El-Sisi emphasized the need to grant Africa a more influential presence in shaping major international decisions, particularly within international institutions and the Security Council. He also stressed the importance of cooperation in managing transboundary rivers in accordance with international law, the principle of not causing harm, prior notification, consultation, and consensus.
The summit’s plenary session witnessed the adoption of a package of documents regulating Russian-African cooperation in the coming period, including the final declaration and the action plan of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum for the period 2027-2029.
