Federal Health Minister Meets Arab Administrative Development Organization Delegation
Khartoum –Federal Minister of Health, Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, met with a delegation from the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO), an affiliate of the League of Arab States.The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed, the Medical Counselor at the Embassy of Sudan in the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Khidir Faisal Abu Bakr, and several senior health sector officials.
The Minister commended the delegation’s efforts and highlighted the strong cooperation and coordination through the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo. Discussions focused on mechanisms for supporting Sudan’s health sector, particularly in the areas of human resources development, empowering women leaders, and addressing the challenges posed by the migration of medical professionals.
The meeting also explored the organization’s role in strengthening leadership capacities and preparing a new generation of health sector leaders.
Prof. Ibrahim emphasized the importance of institutional training and proposed adopting a structured training program for healthcare professionals through the organization, supported by the necessary funding. He noted that the initiative would include sending trainees to Egypt, in addition to conducting training programs within Sudan.
The Minister also confirmed the Federal Ministry of Health’s participation in the organization’s upcoming conference, which will be held in Egypt.
The meeting further addressed the impact of the war on health services and Sudan’s transition from the emergency response phase to the recovery phase. Discussions also highlighted the importance of ensuring a sustainable supply of medicines through partnerships with Egyptian pharmaceutical manufacturers and coordination with the Egyptian Drug Authority to help establish a shared African pharmaceutical market.
The meeting reflects the Federal Ministry of Health’s commitment to building strategic partnerships with Arab organizations and sister countries to strengthen Sudan’s health system and address the sector’s current challenges.
