Federal Minister of Health Meets North Kordofan Governor to Discuss Strengthening Health Services in Liberated Areas
Khartoum –The Federal Minister of Health, Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, held a meeting at his office with the Governor of North Kordofan State, Abdel Khaliq Abdel Latif Wada Allah, in the presence of the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed, the Director General of Health in North Kordofan, Dr. Iman Malik, the Director General of the Khartoum State Ministry of Health, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Badri, and a number of senior health officials.
The meeting focused on key health priorities in the state and the urgent plan to restore medical services in areas that have recently been liberated.
The Minister congratulated the participants on the recent victories, commending the efforts of the Sudanese Armed Forces and supporting forces. He directed the deployment of rapid response teams and mobile clinics, in addition to ensuring the provision of essential hospital services and medical care for patients evacuated to Khartoum.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to addressing shortages of medical equipment and supplies, while praising the resilience and dedication of health workers who have continued to fulfill their national responsibilities despite the challenging circumstances.
The Ministry’s Undersecretary stressed the importance of disinfecting water sources and launching vector control campaigns before the return of residents to the affected areas.
For his part, the Governor of North Kordofan stated that the meeting addressed the state’s current health challenges, particularly the reopening and operation of hospitals following the liberation of affected areas and strengthening coordination with the Sudanese Armed Forces to expand access to medical services. He also highlighted the extensive damage inflicted on health facilities and expressed appreciation for the Federal Ministry of Health’s interventions throughout the crisis.
Dr. Iman Malik presented a comprehensive report on the health situation in the state, noting that hospitals previously under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had been completely looted, underscoring the urgent need to restore essential health services.
The meeting reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting the health sector in conflict-affected states and highlights the importance of close coordination between national and state authorities to ensure the continuity of healthcare services despite ongoing security and logistical challenges.
