Sudan Police Emphasize Strategic Planning and Media Partnership in Enhancing Security Services

Major General (Legal) Abdel Fattah Osman Mohamed Ahmed, representing the Director General of the Sudanese Police Forces and serving as Head of the Guidance and Services Authority, affirmed that the media is an effective partner of the police in carrying out its various duties. He noted that the forum provides a valuable platform for developing both long-term and short-term strategic plans, while also identifying challenges and proposing solutions to improve performance.

He made these remarks while addressing the regular Police Forum organized by the General Administration of Planning, attended by Major General (Legal) Abdel Fattah Osman Mohamed Ahmed, Head of the Moral Guidance Authority. He stressed that raising public awareness is a core area of cooperation between the media and the police, emphasizing that police offices remain open and accessible to all.

Major General Sami Abu Al-Hassan, Director of the General Administration of Planning, presented a historical overview of the administration since its establishment. He explained that the department has undergone several phases of development, particularly during the period from 2019 to the present, which witnessed significant progress in implementing the Ministry’s plans across various sectors.

He identified several key challenges, including the delineation of responsibilities among security agencies, limited financial resources, and the need to minimize administrative interference. He noted that these challenges can be addressed and that overcoming them is essential for development and for building a modern data system based on accurate and reliable information.

Former Director of the Planning Administration, Major General Osman, paid tribute to the martyrs of the “Battle of Dignity,” wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded and the safe return of those still missing. He noted that police forces remained deployed alongside the Central Reserve Forces in confronting rebel forces. He added that strategic plans were developed in Port Sudan in September 2023, at a time when more than 80 percent of police vehicles had been looted.

He explained that the plan included providing support and reinforcement to the Central Reserve Forces, implementing capacity-building programs, and addressing the impacts of war-related destruction.
He further highlighted efforts to provide social support to the families of martyrs and injured personnel in safe cities, as well as measures to regularize financial and administrative affairs.

He praised the efforts made to restore civil registry data and databases and to secure the technical requirements necessary for service delivery. He emphasized that police services have continued uninterrupted since the outbreak of the war and noted that rehabilitation of the Police Hospital in Port Sudan is among the ongoing priorities.

Major General Khawad Al-Shami, Director of the General Administration of Media, underscored the importance of planning as a future-oriented process built on accurate data and focused on setting implementation priorities. He stated that the administration operates according to clear plans and has successfully implemented numerous initiatives based on comprehensive studies. He added that assessing the impact of planning remains one of its key objectives.

Police spokesperson Brigadier General Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Toum praised the significant role of the media in educating and informing the public, reaffirming the police’s full coordination with media institutions to enhance community awareness and promote public understanding.
