Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation with Turkish Counterpart

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Moatasim Ahmed Salih, met today in Geneva with Prof. Vedat Işıkhan, Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Türkiye, on the sidelines of the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Hassan Hamid Hassan, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sudan to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva, along with members of the Permanent Mission and officials from both sides.
During the meeting, the two ministers reaffirmed the deep historical and strategic relations between Sudan and Türkiye and expressed their commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation in the fields of labour, employment, human resource development, and vocational training.

The Sudanese Minister outlined Sudan’s priorities during the recovery and reconstruction phase, highlighting the extensive damage caused by the war to infrastructure, vocational training institutions, and public services. He stressed the importance of establishing strategic partnerships to support the rebuilding of national capacities and the development of human capital.

The discussions also explored opportunities for cooperation in rehabilitating and upgrading vocational training centers, modernizing training curricula, enhancing the capacities of trainers, and facilitating the transfer of expertise and modern technologies. In addition, both sides discussed cooperation in developing labour market information systems and digital employment services to support workforce planning and employment policies.
