Exemption of Central Darfur IDPs from National Number Fees as Human Resources Minister Affirms Support for the Most Vulnerable

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Mutasim Ahmed Salih, met today with the Governor of Central Darfur, Mustafa Tambour, to discuss the conditions of displaced persons from the state across different parts of Sudan, particularly families residing within host communities, as well as the humanitarian and service-related challenges they continue to face as a result of the war.

During the meeting, the minister confirmed the exemption of displaced persons from fees for obtaining replacement national number documents in cases of loss. He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing food and health support to the most vulnerable groups.

He stressed the importance of establishing an accurate database for displaced persons and classifying them according to age, gender, and location, considering this a fundamental step toward proper planning and the fair and efficient delivery of assistance.

The meeting also addressed the importance of creating suitable conditions for the Government of Central Darfur to carry out its responsibilities toward citizens by providing accurate information and statistics on the needs of displaced persons, as well as initiating early plans for reconstruction and post-war recovery in ways that promote stability and preserve citizens’ dignity and their right to safe and sustainable return to their areas of origin.
In a Facebook post, the minister reiterated that the “Government of Hope” views displacement and social protection issues as both a national and humanitarian priority, affirming the continuation of coordination with national and international partners to ensure the delivery of support and essential services to war-affected populations across the country.
