Director General of the Ministry of Social Development and Acting Minister,Siddiq Hassan Farini, affirmed that “successful nations build their plans and programs based on their past, their present, and a positive vision of a future that represents the real challenge to the will for change.”
This came during his address at the closing of the training workshop for the Community Protection Network,
held as part of the project to provide protection and community awareness services in the Khartoum locality, which is the first group to receive protection training in the locality after the war.
Addressing the trainees, Farini said: “You are the nucleus for reforming society and a key objective for psychosocial support.” He noted that the selection of protection groups in Al-Hilla Al-Jadida, Al-Goz, and Al-Rumaila sectors was carefully made, describing it as “a pilot project to test the will of both the government and the community in one of the most critical issues—protection.” He also emphasized the importance of dialogue, peaceful coexistence, rejecting conflict and hatred, building trust among individuals and communities, providing psychosocial support, and building on experiences through knowledge and learning.
For his part, Dr. Azhari Ahmed, Director of the West Administrative Unit, highlighted the importance of training courses in protection in its broad sense, thanking the minister and welcoming the project. He affirmed the readiness of West Khartoum Unit to support all accompanying programs and activities across the three sectors.
