Federal Ministry of Health Announces Major Success of Nationwide Polio Response Campaign in 7 States

The Federal Ministry of Health, represented by the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), has announced significant success in the nationwide campaign to respond to the polio outbreak, which was implemented in seven states. The ministry revealed that the first round achieved a coverage rate of 106%.
Mohammed Al-Hussein Al-Haj, Head of the Federal Campaign Operations Room, stated in a press briefing that the achieved coverage is a natural result of the dedicated efforts of all participants at the federal and state levels, along with partners from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF. The campaign covered Khartoum, Al Jazirah, Sennar, Kassala, Al Qadarif, White Nile, and North Kordofan states. It reached 57 localities out of 207 administrative units.
He noted that the target group included children from one day old up to five years of age, totaling 4,379,512 children, while 4,642,733 children were actually vaccinated.
Al-Haj added that preparations are underway to implement the second round in the seven states one month after the completion of the first round, which lasted four days from April 27 to 30.
