Jismar Organization for Human Security Celebrates the International Day for Mine Awareness

Jismar Organization for Human Security, in cooperation with the National Mine Action and Development Units and Safeline Global, celebrated the International Day for Mine Awareness under the auspices of the National Mine Action Center. The event, held at the Khalifa Abdullah Al-Ta’aishi Courtyard in Omdurman, Khartoum State, that witnessed a wide participations from directors of civil society organizations and community figures. The celebration included several awareness discourse on the dangers of landmines, competitions on how to handle suspicious objects, and information about the hotline (60666) for contacting specialized teams. For his part, Professor Abu Osama Abdullah emphasized the organization’s commitment to raising community awareness about the dangers of landmines and all forms of post-war remnants of war in order to create a safe environment for citizens. He commended the active role of civil society organizations in disseminating awareness within the community, indicated to the importance of unifying goals and messages and exerting efforts to remove unexploded ordnance in all war-affected states. The representative of the organizations explained that civil society organizations in Sudan are making significant efforts to remove war remnants so that citizens can live in a society free of unexploded ordnance, achieve a safe and stable life, encourage the return of displaced citizens to their homes, and participate in the reconstruction of Sudan.
