West Kordofan Government Stresses the Importance of Coordination between Zakat and Health Insurance to Serve the IDPs
The Secretary-General of the Government of West Kordofan State, the Acting Governor, Ibrahim Yousef Abdel Rahman, stressed the strategic importance of the visit by the delegation of the Joint Six-Person Committee between the Zakat Bureau and the National Health Insurance Fund to the city of Al-Obeid. He emphasized the need to overcome all obstacles that hinder joint work between the two institutions to serve the citizens of the state and the IDPs.
During his meeting with the committee’s delegation at the temporary headquarters of Health Insurance in West Kordofan in the city of Al-Obeid, the Acting Governor discussed ways to enhance coordination to provide urgent health services, pointing to the pressing needs faced by the displaced people under the current circumstances.
In a related context, the committee held a meeting that included the Secretary of the Zakat Bureau in West Kordofan, Mr. Ezzeddine Ali Rahma, and the Executive Director of Health Insurance in the State, Dr. Mohamed Hamed Abu Farda, in the presence of the leaders of the departments in the two institutions, to review the status of the implementation of the Framework Agreement and to upgrade the level of joint cooperation.
The Director General of Banks at the General Secretariat of the Federal Zakat Bureau and a member of the committee, Kamal Mohamed Mahmoud, explained that the meeting discussed the performance reports related to population coverage and the size of debts, stressing that there is a great convergence in visions between Zakat and health insurance, despite the existence of some minor obstacles that both parties are working to overcome to ensure the continuity of service in the event of the liberation of the state from the militia.
Dr. Siddiq Wahba, a member of the six-member committee of the National Health Insurance Fund, thanked the Government of West Kordofan, promising to overcome the obstacles facing work in the interest of the insured and displaced people through the provision of excellent medical services.
