The NHIF Aims to Cover 86.8% of Sudan’s Population with Services Through 1,500 Outlets

The governor of Gezira State, Taher Ibrahim Al-Khair, praised the interventions of the National Health Insurance Fund to enhance the efforts of the state government in strengthening the health system. During his meeting in his office on Wednesday morning with Dr. Farouk Nour Al-Daem, Director General of the National Health Insurance Fund, and in the presence of Dr. Al-Amin Hussain, Director of the Fund’s branch in the state, he called for expanding coverage and providing quality services.
The Director General of the National Health Insurance Fund reviewed the efforts of health insurance during the Eid holiday and the plans for the year 2026, which are based on the directives of the Government of Hope and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare aimed at localizing services in the cities of the localities and spreading services in the countryside, announcing his administration’s intention to expand the population and service coverage at the level of additional basic services and to target the coverage of 25 million citizens with health insurance services in all states, achieving a coverage rate of 86.8% through 1,500 outlets.
Dr. Al-Amin Hussein Omar, Director of the Fund’s Branch in the State, confirmed that the next phase aims to reach 260 service windows instead of 211, distributed fairly to the localities and focusing on the quality of services in cooperation with health insurance partners.
