Sudan Receives $19.3 Million from the Global Pandemic Fund

Advisor Mohamed Nour Abdel-Daim, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, announced that Sudan has received $19.3 million in financial support from the Global Pandemic Fund to strengthen the health sector. This announcement was made during his leadership of the Sudanese delegation participating in the Africa CDC meetings in Addis Ababa.

He explained that Sudan achieved strategic understandings and significant financial gains to support the health system, within the framework of the country’s efforts to enhance international cooperation and ensure the flow of aid.

On the sidelines of the meetings, the delegation held high-level meetings with major donors and international partners, including officials from the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the Global Pandemic Fund, and the Gavi vaccine alliance. Discussions focused on key issues related to attracting funding to combat epidemics, providing technical and financial support, and strengthening international advocacy.

In a move reflecting confidence in national institutions, the Minister of State extended a formal invitation to partners and donors to visit Khartoum soon to witness firsthand the efforts underway and assess existing gaps, paving the way for building smart and sustainable partnerships with the Sudanese government. He emphasized that these initiatives are part of the state’s strategy to establish a resilient health system capable of withstanding the challenges of the reconstruction phase.
