The Annual Meeting of State Emergency Managers Convenes

Under the slogan “Towards Enhancing Health Security in Sudan,” the annual meeting of emergency managers in the states was launched this morning at the Kanun Hotel in Khartoum, which will continue until tomorrow, Thursday, February 12.
At the opening of the meeting, the Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Ali Babiker, pointed out the development of a strategy that includes three phases: the first is response, the second is recovery and reconstruction, and the third is development. He stressed the need to evaluate the response phase and document the experience of addressing epidemics such as cholera and dengue while employing community support and proper resources.
The Director of the General Directorate of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, Dr. Muntaser Mohamed Othman, said that despite the conditions of the war and the small number of workers, and under the leadership of the minister, we continued to work based on health information, which is considered the first step to respond, understand our capabilities, and ask for help.
The World Health Organization representative, Simon Caddo, expressed his happiness to participate in the meeting, especially since Khartoum is witnessing a massive return movement of citizens today, alongside the collapse of infrastructure and the spread of epidemics, which poses a significant challenge.
