UNDP Resident Representative Visits Medical Supplies in Blue Nile Region

The Director of the National Medical Supplies Fund branch in the Blue Nile region, Dr. Saddam Al-Muntasir Al-Haj Jareed, received today Luca Renda, the Resident Representative of UNDP in Sudan, in a visit aimed at reviewing the progress and efforts made in strengthening the pharmaceutical supply system and ensuring the delivery of life-saving medicines to health facilities, especially for malaria, AIDS, and tuberculosis (LMDs) programs.

During the visit, the Resident Representative was briefed on the qualitative addition achieved through the solar energy system and the cold chain unit, which directly contributed to improving the storage environment and maintaining the quality of medicines.

The Medical Supplies Department also reviewed the most prominent challenges facing their work, foremost of which is the need for dedicated vehicles to transport medicines to cover rural areas and remote villages, in addition to the need to increase the quantities of life-saving medicines to ensure continuity of supply and expand the scope of health services in the region.

For his part, Mr. Luca affirmed UNDP’s commitment to continue its support for the medical supply sector and strengthen the partnership with the health authorities in the Blue Nile region during the next phase, in order to contribute to improving the availability of medicine and serving local communities.
