Let us hope that Prince Bin Salman’s efforts pay off
We welcome any initiative that seeks to end this brutal war, which was never our choice but a reality imposed upon us against our will.
Our fundamental responsibility lies in defending ourselves, our homeland, and our right to live in peace.
We cannot but express our appreciation for the efforts of Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This initiative is not the first of its kind; it was preceded by the Jeddah Forum, which enjoyed the support and participation of the United States, but failed to achieve its objectives due to the lack of cooperation from the other side.
Ending the war ourselves is the only way forward now, because we are the ones directly affected and live through this tragedy every moment. Experience has taught us that no one is as genuinely committed to ending the war as we are.
This war has lasted three years and is now approaching its fourth. During this time, we have witnessed widespread destruction and paid a heavy price, while the world continues to ignore the situation.
The country has suffered unforgivable humanitarian disasters. A city like El Fasher endured a three-year siege, deprived of the most basic necessities: food, medicine, and even safety within the camps. Yet, despite global indifference and the international community’s silence regarding our suffering, we have remained steadfast and persevered through the worst of circumstances.
Our desire today is to escape this ordeal and restore peace and stability to our country so that everyone can return to his homes. When initiatives are proposed by influential countries like Saudi Arabia, it is natural to feel a glimmer of hope and optimism.
However, past experiences, replete with empty promises, compel us to be more cautious and resolute in our goals.
Despite the devastating blows and losses our country has suffered as a result of the war, we have demonstrated to the world the resilience of a people who refuse to surrender, no matter the cost.
The losses we have suffered must not hinder our progress toward our ultimate goals: preserving our nation’s sovereignty, freedom, and the dignity of its people.
If we receive support from countries with positive intentions toward ending the war, we appreciate and welcome it.
We have set our sights on a clear objective: to persevere to the end with unwavering resolve and determination to achieve a victory that fulfills our dreams and restores to our nation the security and stability it deserves.
