Al-Burhan: The Presence of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Army is a Scarecrow
Head of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, stated that if the UAE is part of the Quartet, Sudan believes this Quartet is not legitimate, especially since the entire world has witnessed the UAE supporting rebels against the Sudanese state.
During his meeting on Sunday with senior officers of the Armed Forces, holding the rank of Major General and above, he clarified that the UAE cannot be accepted as a mediator in the crisis. He explained that the narrative repeated by Massad Boulos, the US President’s advisor on Middle East and Africa affairs, regarding the Muslim Brotherhood’s control within the army, is a narrative consistently propagated by the UAE. He indicated that this is nothing more than a scare tactic used to appease the Americans, Saudis, and Egyptians. He emphasized that this claim is false and a blatant lie, highlighting the military institution’s ability to reform and restructure itself.
He added that the Dagalo terrorist militia is a rebel militia that has killed and looted Sudanese citizens and committed genocide and ethnic cleansing against them. He pointed out that a number of countries are supporting this militia, and this is unacceptable to us. He also stated that the support of political groups for this militia is also unacceptable.
He said, “We are not warmongers, and we do not reject peace, but no one can threaten us or dictate terms to us.” He added that the Sudanese people are not weak, nor is their army, emphasizing his confidence in the officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the armed forces, and saying that this confidence is the source of our strength.
Al-Burhan affirmed the determination to reclaim all the lands defiled by the rebellion in Kordofan and Darfur, adding, “We will expel them from this Sudan, and victory will be ours as long as we are on the side of right.” He said, “We are determined to wage this battle with honor and dignity, without interference from any external party.”
He stated that the battle for dignity is the battle of all Sudanese, a battle for the survival of the Sudanese people, clarifying that the armed forces are not fighting on behalf of specific tribes or population groups, and emphasizing that the fight is against the rebels. He called on tribal leaders and elders who support Abdulrahim Dagalo to heed the voice of reason and not send their sons into this inferno, pointing to the many young men from these tribes who have perished in the war.
