MInterior Minister praises the achievement of the anti-smuggling unit in the northern sector in seizing 200 assorted weapons in River Nile State

Lieutenant General Babiker Samra Mustafa, Minister of Interior, emphasized the significant and growing role played by the Anti-Smuggling Forces within the Customs Authority in apprehending most smuggling operations that have targeted the national economy and the minds of young people. This came during his visit today to the Anti-Smuggling Department in the Northern Sector, Atbara, which thwarted a major smuggling operation and seized (200) weapons that were en route to the country. The visit was attended by Dr. Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid, Governor of River Nile State, and members of the State Security Committee. The Minister stated that the Anti-Smuggling Forces have consistently achieved successive successes with these high-profile seizures. He affirmed that the bravery and vigilance of the Anti-Smuggling Forces against anyone who seeks to tamper with the security and tranquility of the nation and its citizens and destroy the nation’s resources will ensure they face the necessary deterrent. He reiterated the Ministry of Interior’s commitment to providing all the necessary technical resources to enable the Anti-Smuggling Forces to protect the economy from smugglers, and called upon the Anti-Smuggling personnel to redouble their efforts to foil all such schemes. The Governor of River Nile State emphasized the importance of uncovering smuggling operations in the state by monitoring and tracking smugglers’ activities. He commended the performance of the Anti-Smuggling Department personnel, who have consistently received praise from the state’s citizens for their significant and commendable achievements in safeguarding the state’s gains. He added that the state government supports all plans and programs that enable the department to perform its duties effectively.
Police Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Director General of Customs Forces, praised the significant achievement of the force, commending their courage and effective field operations in confronting criminal networks. He affirmed that Customs Forces are committed to tightening their control over the borders and combating all smuggling activities to maintain the security and stability of the country.
Major General Jamal Al-Awad Al-Amin, Assistant Director General for Anti-Smuggling, explained that the seizure reflects the high level of vigilance and professional discipline that characterizes the Anti-Smuggling Forces. He also praised the ongoing coordination with other security agencies in combating transnational crime.
Brigadier General Adam Omar Sabil, Director of the Anti-Smuggling Department in River Nile State, confirmed that the operation was carried out with high professionalism after the information was gathered and analyzed meticulously. He indicated that the suspects were pursued, and the necessary legal procedures were taken. He emphasized that his forces will remain a steadfast barrier against anyone who attempts to harm the nation’s economy, resources, and security.
It is worth noting that the seizure included a pickup truck carrying a DShK heavy machine gun, 17 Goryunov machine guns, one DShK heavy machine gun, 50 Kalashnikov rifles, 68 M-16 rifles, 63 pistols, an SMG rifle, and a Starlink device.
