Minister of Minerals Addresses the Africa-China Mining Forum

Minister of Minerals, Professor Nour El-Daim Mohamed Ahmed Taha, addressed the Africa-China Mining Forum session held as part of the China Mining Conference in Tianjin, China. The forum was attended by ministers and deputy ministers of mining from African countries, with active participation from the Chinese public and private sectors, and delegations from countries interested in the mining sector.

The conference began on Thursday, October 23, and will continue until the 25th of this month. It was attended by a wide range of mining ministers, experts, specialists, and representatives of major international mining companies.

In his speech, the Minister emphasized Sudan’s diverse mineral wealth, including precious minerals such as gold; energy minerals such as cobalt, lithium, and copper; and strategic, critical, and rare minerals.

He called on Chinese companies to invest in Sudan, noting the facilities and incentives the country provides and the regulations and laws it has activated to attract foreign investment.

The Minister called on African countries to enhance the utilization of their mineral resources through local production and manufacturing and adding value before exporting, rather than exporting raw materials. This would contribute to achieving sustainable development and maximizing economic returns for countries.

The Minister concluded his speech by affirming Sudan’s commitment to supporting and encouraging investment, development, capacity building, and technology transfer in the fields of exploration and production. He noted his country’s keenness to establish strategic and profitable partnerships with friendly countries, particularly the People’s Republic of China, which is a key partner in developing the mining sector in Sudan
