Army Repels Drone Attacks in Sennar and Damazin

The cities of Sennar and Damazin, southeastern Sudan, were subjected to attacks by drones likely affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces militia on Tuesday evening. These drones caused a power outage in large parts of the two areas and sparked panic among residents.

Eyewitnesses said that “a suicide drone exploded near the Sennar Dam, causing a loud explosion that was heard throughout the city. Sudanese army forces fired heavy anti-aircraft missiles to repel the attack.”

In the city of Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile State, local residents reported that suicide drones targeted the electricity transformer station west of the Roseires Dam, causing a complete power outage and plunging the city into complete darkness. The Fourth Infantry Division in Damazin said the situation was under complete control after the air defenses intercepted and shot down the “enemy” drones.

In a circular issued Tuesday evening, it stated that the sounds heard were the result of anti-aircraft missiles intercepting the drones, adding: “The situation is now under control, and there are no casualties or property damage.”
