The Attorney General confirms the Public Prosecution’s keenness to achieve justice

The Governor of West Darfur, General Bahr al-Din Adam Karama, stressed that his government places the file of justice at the top of its priorities, as it is the main pillar for building lasting peace and restoring trust between the state and society. He pointed out that the state government is working in full coordination with the Public Prosecution to document crimes and violations and to prosecute those involved in them, both internally and externally.

This is part of the efforts of the West Darfur State Government to consolidate the principles of justice and the rule of law, and to pay tribute to the blood of the martyrs and victims.

Karama discussed, during his meeting on Monday with the Attorney General of the Republic of Sudan, Maulana Intisar Ahmed Abdel Aal, the MP, in the presence of Maulana Abdul Qadir Adam, the legal advisor of the state, and the members of the Legal Committee for the Advocacy of Victims of Violations in West Darfur, Abdel Khaliq Matar and Yahya Abdullah. Cooperation and coordination mechanisms between the state government and the Public Prosecution aim to expedite the investigation and prosecution procedures in order to achieve the principles of justice, fairness, and reparation.

The meeting addressed the current legal and judicial situation in the state, as well as the files of violations and crimes committed against citizens during the war.

For her part, the Attorney General, Maulana Intisar Ahmed Abdel Aal, praised the legal and field efforts exerted by the state government in light of the exceptional circumstances that the region is experiencing. She emphasized the keenness of the Public Prosecution to achieve justice without discrimination and its full support for the activation of prosecutions and courts in West Darfur, along with the serious and professional follow-up of judicial files in adherence to the principle of non-impunity.

The two sides stressed that the achievement of justice is the only way to true peace and that the blood of the victims must not be in vain.The meeting concluded by stressing the importance of supporting the Legal Committee to advocate for victims of violations and providing it with the necessary legal and technical capabilities to enable it to perform its tasks in documenting crimes and building judicial files on integrated professional and legal foundations.
