Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Meets His Egyptian Counterpart
Ambassador Mohieldin Salem Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met, Sunday, with his Egyptian counterpart, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs.
During the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed his happiness to participate in the forum, stressing that the forum has become a distinguished platform for raising unique issues and creating new partnerships between different countries.
The Minister reiterated his appreciation for Egypt’s supportive stance towards the Sudanese government, emphasizing Sudan’s aspiration to continue its efforts to support the recovery of Sudanese state sectors in preparation for the reconstruction process.
For his part, the Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt’s continued efforts to achieve stability in Sudan, expressing Egypt’s full solidarity with Sudan and supporting its stability, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions. He also noted Egypt’s active engagement in efforts aimed at ending the war. He also welcomed the holding of the second edition of the Egyptian-Sudanese Businessmen Forum this year, the efforts to convene the Joint Trade Committee in Cairo, and the reception of a Sudanese technical delegation to share Egypt’s investment experience.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs reviewed Egypt’s efforts to restore infrastructure in Khartoum through the implementation of the project to repair and rehabilitate both the Halfaya Bridge and the Shambat Bridge in the Sudanese capital, affirming Egypt’s readiness and aspiration to contribute to the rehabilitation of the electricity, water, health, and education sectors in Sudan.
The meeting addressed water security, emphasizing the unity of the two countries’ positions as downstream states of the River Nile. They emphasized the need for full adherence to international law in the Eastern Nile Basin and the complete rejection of unilateral measures on the River Nile.
