Higher Health Committee for Preparing for the Return to Khartoum Holds its Fourth Meeting
The fourth meeting of the Higher Health Committee for Preparing for the Return and Rehabilitating Health Facilities in Khartoum State was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Khartoum, chaired by Federal Minister of Health, Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim. The meeting was held in implementation of Resolution No. 153 of 2025 issued by the Sovereignty Council, and directed by Lieutenant General Ibrahim Jaber, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Suitable Environment for the Return of Citizens to the State.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the need to expedite the resumption of health facilities according to the established plan. He emphasized the importance of achieving the committee’s objectives in a practical manner that ensures the recovery of the health system, unifies resources and efforts, activates partnerships with organizations, and operates health facilities affiliated with the regular forces.
The Minister also praised the proposal to hold a workshop to develop the health profile of Khartoum State and to present the state’s experience in managing the health crisis resulting from the war waged by the Rapid Support Forces militias, which directly targeted the health sector.
The meeting reviewed technical reports presented by Dr. Haider Mohammed, Director of the General Administration of Therapeutic Medicine, covering the period from August to October 2025, and by Professor Rashid and Hamza Sami Al-Jak, on vector control in Khartoum localities. The reports revealed the operation of 9 of the 16 targeted hospitals and 17 of the 31 health centers, in addition to the implementation of 15 mobile clinics in various localities.
The meeting also emphasized the need to continue the vector control campaign for the coming months, especially after the positive results in reducing mosquito populations and the decrease in infections.
The announcement was also made regarding the operationalization of the Police Hospital Emergency Department as a first phase, the commencement of the rehabilitation of Al-Amal Hospital in Omdurman, and the provision of equipment for Nour El-Oyoun Hospital.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Al-Bashir, Director of Therapeutic Medicine in the state, emphasized the need to expedite the rehabilitation process and support the operation of hospitals, noting that the allocation of $150,000 as a down payment for the operation of the targeted hospitals played a significant role in supporting medical operations.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee’s rapporteur, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qaim, presented a series of warnings to the subcommittees and emphasized the need to enhance coordination and intensify efforts to implement the targeted plan until the end of 2025. He also emphasized the importance of holding a workshop to prepare the health profile for Khartoum State. The meeting endorsed the presentation given by Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim to facilitate the workshop in early November.
