For the first time since the outbreak of the war, legal profession regulation exams begin
The legal profession regulation exams for the October 2025 session began at the University of Nilein in Khartoum and Kassala University, under the patronage of the Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Dirif, and the Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Osman Hamza. The total number of students taking the basic exams in Khartoum State was 1,302, while the number of supplementary exams reached 581. The number of students taking the supplementary exams at Kassala University reached 1,352, while the total number of special cases was 3 in Kassala and 2 in Khartoum.
The Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Dirif emphasized their long-standing commitment to holding the equivalency exam in Khartoum State. This is because the goal is to send a message to citizens at home and abroad that Khartoum has become safe and has recovered. He noted that students arrived today from various states in Sudan, and that upon their return, they will certainly convey a message to their families that Khartoum has recovered. He added that many in the media are fueling the idea that Khartoum is unfit for life, so this message must be conveyed to them.
For his part, the Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, noted that they were monitoring the progress of the legal profession exam today, which indicates the significant recovery taking place in Khartoum State. He praised all those in attendance, including the state police director, the military prosecutor, the university staff, and the media and journalists working to cover this effort.
He said, “We in Khartoum State have directed all agencies to support us, and all members of the legal department to facilitate this situation.” He wished everyone success.
Counselor Ihab Bushra, Secretary of the Legal Profession Regulatory Council at the Khartoum Center, said they have ten halls in Khartoum State for the legal profession regulation exams, including one for the supplementary exam. He stated that there are 291 examinees taking the supplementary exams in the criminal procedure subject. He explained that in Kassala, they have 15 main halls and six supplementary halls.
He stated that the workforce at the Khartoum Center consists of counselors, prosecutors, university employees, and university supervisory assistants, with the same structure as at the Kassala Center. He said they have two main and two supplementary committees, and in Kassala there are three special committees.
He thanked the entities that contributed to the success of this exam, including the governor of Khartoum, the governor of Kassala State, the University of Nile, the University of Kassala, Haj Al-Safi Hospital, Kassala Hospital, the Khartoum State Security Committee, and Kassala Hospital, who provided water to the students. He also thanked the governor of River Nile State and said that exam marking would begin on November 1, and that results would be available as soon as possible.
He concluded by saying that they had four students who were unable to go to the Kassala Center and were brought to Khartoum State.
