The Minister of Higher Education is assured of the situation of Sudanese universities and students in Uganda

As part of his current visit to the Ugandan capital, Kampala, and on the sidelines of his participation in the Conference on Neglected Tropical Diseases, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Ahmed Mudawi Musa, met at the residence of Ambassador Ahmed Gerda, the Ambassador of Sudan to Uganda, with a number of representatives of Sudanese universities hosted in Uganda, along with a group of Sudanese students studying there.

During the meeting, the Minister listened to the challenges facing Sudanese educational institutions operating outside the country, as well as the issues of students, especially with regard to the conditions of residence and study, and ways to resume the educational process from inside Sudan.

Professors and students expressed their sincere desire to return home if the right conditions are available and reiterated their commitment to continue their studies.

The Minister praised the experience of academic cooperation between Sudan and Uganda, which led to the continuation of studies for a large number of Sudanese students despite the exceptional circumstances that the country is going through, pointing out that this experience was based on solid foundations of partnership between universities in the two countries, through agreements and memoranda of understanding that maintained the quality and reputation of Sudanese higher education.

He also thanked the government of Uganda and its generous people for the facilities they provided to Sudanese universities and students.

Prof. Mudawi stressed that the Ministry will continue its efforts to rehabilitate Sudanese universities and work to improve the educational environment in coordination with the relevant national authorities, stressing that youth and students are the pillar of the next stage, and they are counted on to contribute effectively to the process of reconstruction of the country.
