Launching of the Public Campaigns to Raise Awareness of the Dangers of Explosive Ordnance

An awareness campaign on the was launched in East Nile / Haj Youssef on the awareness of the dangers of mines and explosive ordnance in Sudan, within the framework of the Public Campaigns to Raise Awareness of the Dangers of Explosive Ordnance, which was organized by the Jasmar Organization for Human Security and under the auspices of the National Mine Control Center in cooperation with UNICEF.

The ceremony was attended by a large group of people and dignitaries of the region, as well as school and kindergarten students, who embodied the meanings of concern and patriotism regarding the dangers that beset them. The celebration included awareness sessions about the dangers of explosive objects and announced a hotline for reporting foreign objects through the number (60666).

Explosive ordnance (EO) presents severe and widespread dangers in Sudan, causing death and life-altering injuries to civilians, particularly children, and hindering humanitarian aid by contaminating populated areas and infrastructure. The use of inaccurate weapons like rockets and bombs in urban areas, along with explosive remnants of war (ERWs), creates ongoing contamination in regions like Khartoum and Darfur, requiring extensive risk education, surveying, and disposal efforts to enable safe returns and humanitarian access.

Jasmar Organization for Human Security is a national non-profit organization that works in various fields of humanitarian work. Its presidential office was established in the year 2001, where it began its work in combating mines.
