WHO delegation arrives in Sudan to evaluate the monitoring and investigation system of the (EPI)

The World Health Organization (WHO) delegation has arrived in the country to evaluate the surveillance and pathological investigation system of the Expanded Programme on Immunization for Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and will leave for the targeted states on Friday.

The Acting Director of the General Directorate of Basic Health Care, Mr. Ismail Al-Adani, said in a press statement that the evaluation teams will leave tomorrow, Friday, for the targeted states, which include the Red Sea, the North River Nile , Khartoum, Gezira, White Nile, Sennar, Gedaref, Kassala, and Blue Nile. The delegation will spend four days visiting the presidency of each state, choosing one or two localities, in addition to two reporting centers, to identify the investigation system and its sensitivity to detect cases, as well as the system’s deficiencies. The delegation will then return to Kassala to organize a workshop to present the evaluation and its results, and based on that, develop a plan to address any deficiencies, if they exist and support what needs support from the World Health Organization, pointing out that other teams will conduct an assessment of the states of Darfur and South and North Kordofan.

Al-Adani stressed that the evaluation system is in place in the immunization program all over the world, and Sudan is among the countries of the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean for World Health.
