Kamil Idris: The Sudanese people have been exposed to existential dangers and threats over the past three years due to the systematic crimes of the militias

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris said that the Sudanese people have been exposed to existential dangers and threats over the past three years due to the crimes of the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia.

In his speech before the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York,yesterday, he added that these challenges have forced the Sudanese people to flee their homes and homeland under the pressure of systematic killing, torture, looting, rape, humiliation, and the brutal destruction of all aspects of life. All of this was intentional in and of itself, as part of an integrated project to control Sudan, plunder its wealth, and alter the demographics of its population.

The Prime Minister emphasized that preserving the sovereignty of the state and its established national institutions is a top priority and an existential issue for the Sudanese people.

He reiterated that a civilian transition, democratic transformation under the leadership of the civilian Government of Hope, and the establishment of peace will not be achieved without the presence and strengthening of these national institutions that preserve the state’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He called on the international community to work to stop the flow of advanced lethal weapons to the terrorist militia, condemn and criminalize it, designate it as a terrorist group, and halt the flow of mercenaries.

He continued, “Violating Resolution 1591 threatens the continuation and prolongation of the war, the suffering of civilians, reduces the chances of achieving peace, and threatens the safety, unity, and stability of Sudan and the entire region.”
