On this day, September 25, the world celebrates World Maritime Day.

Dear reader, maritime navigation is not just ships sailing the sea, nor lines drawn on maps. Rather, it is the story of humanity with its endless horizons, a journey of hope between ports, and a bridge where the world’s civilizations meet and across which the threads of trade and life intertwine.

On World Maritime Day, the image of the sea is renewed in our consciousness as a vast horizon bearing goodness for all people. It is as if the waves are a silent message telling us that the universe is interconnected by invisible blue threads, and that God has brought humanity’s sustenance to them on the surface of the water to reach their tables, carried by the hearts and forearms of sailors.

Maritime navigation is not just an economy; it is a vast human civilization. Since time immemorial, the seas have been a testing ground for courage, a stage for adventure, and a path for peoples to come together. Today, ships remain the arteries of life, transporting food, medicine, and hope from one port to another, testament that the world, no matter how geographically distant, remains close thanks to the sea.
