Sudan criticizes Quartet statement, holds UAE responsible for bloodshed and destruction of Sudanese people

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the contents of the Quartet statement on the Sudanese crisis issued on Friday, September 21. It stated that the statement constitutes a direct infringement on Sudan’s sovereignty and suggests that Sudan is subject to foreign tutelage.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement issued on Saturday stated that the UAE’s participation in this framework is unacceptable. It noted that Abu Dhabi’s record in the war on Sudan does not qualify it – in any way – to speak about the country’s future.
The ministry affirmed that conclusive evidence has proven the UAE’s involvement in financing and arming the Rapid Support Forces, making it a direct partner in the bloodshed and destruction of Sudanese people.
It added that Abu Dhabi is the last party that has the right to talk about peace or stability in Sudan, explaining that Sudan is a sovereign state and will not allow itself to be an arena for tutelage or political blackmail.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded its statement by stressing that what was stated in the Quartet statement does not bind Sudan in any way, and that any discussion about the country’s future must take place with the participation of Sudan itself, far from any external guardianship or interference.
It also stressed that there will be no negotiations with the Rapid Support Forces or with supporters at home or abroad, affirming Sudan’s full right to defend its land and people against any aggression.
