Darfur Governor, Minni Arko Minnawi, described the natural disaster that occurred in the village of Tarsin in Jebel Marra as a “human tragedy that transcends the borders of the region.” He noted that a large number of citizens lost their lives as a result of the incident, in one of the most severe natural disasters the region has witnessed in recent times.

In an official statement, Minawi said:

“What happened in the village of Tarsin in Jebel Marra is a humanitarian tragedy that transcends the borders of the region, as we lost a large number of our people in a devastating natural disaster.”

He added, “While we mourn the victims and offer our condolences to their families, we call on international humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene to provide support and assistance at this critical moment, as the tragedy is beyond the capacity of our people alone.”
The Governor of Darfur emphasized that the extent of the damage exceeds the region’s capabilities, calling for swift action by humanitarian organizations and relevant authorities to address the health and livelihood repercussions resulting from the disaster.
