The Director General of the (NHIF) calls for a protocol to cover students and professors with health insurance

The Director General of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), Dr. Farouk Nour Al-Daem, confirmed that the partnership between health insurance and the Student Welfare Fund is ongoing, emphasizing that students are an important segment of society. Dr. Nour Al-Daem called for a protocol to cover both students and professors, as well as to raise awareness about the additional medical package. He pointed out that health insurance covers 56 government institutions within this additional package, and it is essential to benefit from the research process in coordination with higher education.

Dr. Farouk committed to effective coverage by providing services, noting that 80% of service outlets in Sudan offer services to health insurance cardholders. These services will also be made available later through university centers after they are supported and integrated into the system.

The Secretary-General of the National Fund for Student Welfare, Dr. Ahmed Hamza, welcomed the medical insurance initiative to cover higher education students with a health insurance card to facilitate the provision of services, and celebrated the initiative and said that there is a similarity in the goals in terms of providing services and that the two funds are brothers in terms of public concern.

Hamza praised the previous experience and that it has developed a lot and there is great satisfaction from the students, he stressed that the fund provides services to students throughout the day and that there is moral protection for students, and he appreciated the role of the fund and the provision of services during the war, the fund is health-supporting for students through emergency rooms, but stressed the need to provide services at the second level, the ambition of the workers for another level of services, and this is in line with the subject of the additional medical package and makes it a suitable solution, pointing out the necessity of presenting it to the minister of education and the signing of the Tripartite Protocol.

He stressed the importance of health insurance under difficult circumstances, which remains the solution at this stage.
