Ethiopia: Journalist Yonas Amari Missing After Being ‘Abducted by Masked Individuals’

Journalist Yonas Amari of The Reporter has not been seen or heard from since the night of Wednesday, August 14, after he was abducted by “unknown, masked individuals” near his residence at the Koi Fishi Apartment in Sheger.

The newspaper reported that Yonas, who was on duty before his disappearance, had not reported to work for the past four days. Multiple attempts to reach him by phone or through his family have so far been unsuccessful.

The newspaper reported that security guards at the apartment “confirmed to acquaintances” that Yonas was abducted on the night of August 14, but were unable to provide further details about the individuals’ identities or his whereabouts.

So far, “there has been no official information regarding who abducted Yonas or where he is being held.”
