Malik Arrives in Juba and Meets with President Salva Kiir

Malik Agar, , arrived in Juba, South Sudan, on an official visit to discuss bilateral relations and ways to enhance prospects for joint cooperation.

He met with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit. The meeting addressed the latest political and military developments in Sudan, as well as the humanitarian situation and the siege of the resilient city of El Fasher. He noted that he briefed President Salva Kiir on the significant progress made by the armed forces and their continued efforts to eradicate the rebel militia.
He added that the meeting also addressed the position of Sudan and international and regional organizations rejecting the formation of the so-called parallel government of the Rapid Support Forces and its political allies.
Agar stated that the meeting addressed the activation of the work of the joint ministerial committees between the two countries, particularly the political and security committees, as well as issues of concern to citizens of both countries, particularly the refugee crisis caused by the war. He indicated that he extended an invitation to President Salva Kiir to visit Sudan. His Excellency expressed his approval, with arrangements to be made through diplomatic channels later.
The President of the Republic of South Sudan affirmed his country’s commitment to supporting stability in Sudan and continuing cooperation between the two countries.
Furthermore, the Deputy Head of the Sovereignty Council met with his counterpart, the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Paul Mel. The meeting addressed issues of mutual interest, as well as joint economic issues and other topics.
