The army and its allies repel a militia attack on El Fasher

Field and military sources said that the army and its allies in the joint force repelled a violent attack by the Rapid Support Forces militia on El Fasher city from several directions on Monday.
They reported that the attacking forces suffered heavy losses in equipment and lives.
The governor of Darfur, Minni Arko Minnawi, who oversees the joint force, confirmed in a post on the X platform that the militia had been repelled.
He said, “Whoever tells the Rapid Support Forces that their attempt to enter El Fasher is nothing but a one-way ticket.”
Minnawi congratulated the fighters in the city on their victory over the Janjaweed militia in Battle No. 227.
The governor of Darfur accused the militia of starving children, women, and the elderly, amidst international silence and the reneging of their promises by those who were considered brothers in the trenches. He continued, “But our resolve will not waver, and the banners of victory will continue to fly until the soil of El Fasher and all Sudanese cities are cleansed of the filth of these criminals.” Platforms affiliated with the joint force showed video clips showing the destruction of military vehicles and the killing of a number of militia members. For its part, the El Fasher Resistance Committees Coordination Committee said in a statement that “El Fasher has triumphed once again despite the siege and hunger, and has once again written chapters of heroism and steadfastness.” The coordination committee called on Sudanese at home and abroad to rise to the occasion of this momentous event and to shoulder their moral, humanitarian, and national responsibilities, at the very least. They called for the lifting of the siege and donations to public kitchens struggling with scarce resources.
