GIS mourns the loss of security and strategic expert Brigadier General Abdullah Mirghani Saleh Sarmin

With hearts that believe in God’s will and destiny, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, Director General of the General Intelligence Service, Lieutenant General Mohamed Abbas Al-Labib, Deputy Director General, the heads of departments, and all officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers, mourn the loss of our nation: Brigadier General Dr. Abdullah Mirghani Saleh Sarmin, a security and strategic expert on African affairs and a pillar of security and strategic work in the country.

His soul, which endured a long period of patience, passed away in Cairo today, Friday, 25 July, 2025

The deceased, may God have mercy on him, was one of the righteous sons of Sudan, a leader among his region and people. He served his country with sincerity and dedication for decades, stationed in positions of sacrifice and giving, defending Sudan’s supreme interests, and maintaining the threads of communication with a pure patriotic spirit.

The deceased was a profound thinker, a sober thinker, and a vast scholar. His influence was evident in his work and accomplishments. He was truly one of the soldiers of the shadow upon whose shoulders nations are built. We ask God Almighty to bestow His vast mercy upon him, honor his abode, expand his entrance, and places his contributions to his country in the balance of his good deeds. May God inspire his family, his colleagues, students, and loved ones with patience and consolation.

To God we belong and to Him we shall return.
