Salma Abdel-Jabbar inspects the destruction and vandalism of the International University of Africa buildings

Dr. Salma Abdel-Jabbar Al-Mubarak, member of the Sovereignty Council and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International University of Africa, accompanied by the University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hatem Osman Mohamed, inspected the extent of the destruction and vandalism inflicted on the university’s buildings and equipment as a result of the targeting by the rebel militia.

The member of the Sovereignty Council affirmed the interest of the Head of the Council, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, in ensuring that the International University of Africa resumes its mission and fundamental vision of serving the peoples of the region and students at the regional and international levels.

Dr. Salma added that her tour comes within the framework of the Board of Trustees’ interest in supporting the university’s reconstruction and rehabilitation program, adding that the current situation requires some urgent interventions based on the extent of the damage, which requires the restoration and maintenance of some buildings and faculties, in addition to the construction of entirely new buildings.

Dr. Salma also extended her sincere thanks to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Africa, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Zaid, and the esteemed members for their continuous efforts to advance the university’s progress toward achieving its goals and strategic vision.

For his part, the Vice-Chancellor of the International University of Africa, Professor Hatem Osman Mohamed, said that he had briefed the member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council on the university’s plan to resume classes in mid-January of next year, following the completion of the necessary maintenance.
He noted that the university had lost a significant amount of equipment and devices, but that with determination and concerted efforts, the university would return to its former glory.
